Yahweh´s Homelessness
William Carey Benjamin is from Grace Community Church and we are blessed to have had him minister to the congregation. William and his wife Katelyn are working towards deployment on the mission field in Germany. He is good friends with Nathan Giesbrecht from Living Hope, whose congregation he has recently spent time with.
This text addresses Israel’s indifference toward Yahweh’s worship, shown by their neglect of the temple while living in comfort themselves. Through the prophet Haggai, Yahweh confronts their misplaced priorities and calls them to reflect on their unfulfilled lives as a result of divine discipline. God withholds rain and harvest to awaken their conscience and lead them to repentance. In response, the people fear Yahweh, obey His word, and are stirred to rebuild the temple, restoring proper worship.
