Jerusalem Languishing: Seventy Years of Exile

Daniel’s ninth chapter is another incredible look at the sovereignty of God and the humility of His servant Daniel. In this passage, Daniel realizes that the 70 year period of Jerusalem’s desolation foretold by the prophet Jeremiah is coming to an end. But even as he hopes to see the return to Jerusalem, Daniel recounts the rebellion of his own nation and why they had to have the Lord’s rod of discipline for so long. This is a great lesson for the people of God today as we seek to follow Christ and take Him at His Word.
